About Us

St. Mark’s Sunday School is a vibrant ministry for children which has been in existence for a very long time. We give glory to God for we have a place we can teach generations about His kingdom as we lead the little souls to Jesus Christ our savior. We thank the leadership of the church for giving us the opportunity to serve, parents for entrusting us with their children and teachers for their commitment and sacrifice as volunteers to this important ministry. Our guiding Verse is exodus 2:9 Tend this child and you will receive your reward.

Our Motto:

Firm foundation for a better future.

Our Vision:

A strengthened Sunday school with children who know Jesus Christ as their Friend and Savior, firmly built on the word of God and able to face the challenges in life.

Our Mission:

To lead children into a living relationship with Jesus Christ, through teaching and enabling them to grow in faith and live in its fullness.

What we do:

  1. Trainings for the teachers at the diocesan level to empower them.
  2. Quality monthly lessons accompanied by videos to affirm the lessons.
  3. Monthly mentorship programs for 7-12 age groups held the last Sunday of every month. This has helped our children in many areas of their lives.
  4. Professional Sunday – To mentor children and shade light on various professions.
  5. Children often present in all church services including Bible readings in the youth service every 3rd Sunday of the month. This has helped them to interact with the adult services and they gain confidence to express themselves in public.
  6. Team building and graduation for children from Sunday school to the ropes class. (Teens).
  7. V.B.S. (Vacation Bible Study) open to all children during school Holidays.
  8. Teachers monthly fellowship that allows for bonding and learning from each other and an annual retreat to appreciate the teachers.
  9. Parenting seminars which are open to all parents, teachers and all who deal with children.
  10. Online lessons which are recorded on monthly basis to keep in touch with the children and their parents virtually since some of them may not be consistent in the in- person worship.
  11. Pastoral care to the Sunday school teachers, parents and children.
  12. Mission activities: Visiting children homes, prisons, other churches like Marsabit.

Our Sunday Services

We have two Sunday School Services (8:45am and 10:30am). In both services, children are taught in their respective age brackets beginning with toddlers aged 0-3years, children aged 4-6years,7-9 years and 10-12years.The two services run concurrently with the adult services hence parents can drop their children at Sunday school and go to their (adult) services.

We continue to thank the parents for bringing their children to church every Sunday, however we encourage consistency which has been a great challenge over time.

We also thank the teachers who come in as volunteers every Sunday and we would like to encourage more members especially men to join and volunteer in the Sunday school for a seamless learning for our children.

  1. All children are encouraged to carry bibles and note books.
  2. Parents are requested to bring children to church consistently.
  3. Parents are encouraged to bring children on time.

Many thanks to the church through the leadership of the vicar. Ven. Canon Joshua Omungo for the continued support. May God bless us all as we take care of the young Christians that God has entrusted us.
